More than 200 women from as far as the United Arab Emirates traveled to San Diego for Hera Venture Summit, a one-day educational event hosted by business accelerator Stella Labs. Now in its fourth year, the event at University of San Diego underscored three key themes: encouraging more women to see themselves as investors, challenging the narrative on women in business, and the importance of overcoming fears and asking for help.

A highly competitive process, Stella Labs received 38 applications for 12 spots to pitch and 6 product showcase opportunities. The top 3 pitching ladies will go on to pitch at the Hera Venture Summit on 9/16 at the University of San Diego to a larger community of global investors.

Last night, 12 local entrepreneurs pitched their startup ideas to a panel of investors and advisors during a qualifying competition hosted by business accelerators Stella Labs and UCSD’s mystartupXX.
